Our Offer Ranking Algorithm

When presenting a user with discounts in their local area our aim is to present the most attractive offers nearby first.

When we receive an offer from a merchant, we assign it a rank for attractiveness and store this in our database

A user can search by postcode or town.

1. If a town is entered, assign a postcode which represents the centre of that town

2. Find all offers within a 7 mile radius of the postcode and display these in order of rank

3. Find all offers within a radius of greater than 7 miles and less than 15 miles and display these, below those offers within the first 7 mile radius, again in order of rank

We believe that this alogorithm presents the user with the information they are most likely to be interested in first, while at the same time encouraging merchants to offer better discounts in order to increase their ranking.
